Easy to Follow Puppy Obedience Training
Dogs are the most loveable creatures you can ever have for a pet. They are loyal friends and intelligent companions. They will protect you with their lives and help you secure your property. However, you need to give them the proper puppy obedience training that they need very early in their puppy life if you want them to be good and responsible in their adult dog life.
From birth until they reach one year old, they are babies no matter how big they have grown. As early as possible, you can start controlling their behavior by simple puppy obedience training techniques. It is important to establish who the boss is. It should be clear to the dog that you are in charge and that he should obey you. Make sure you make the rules. They should not lie on the couch or bed, jump to the table, bite the furniture etc. Be consistent with your puppy obedience training rules so that the puppies will not get confused.
For example, puppies like chewing. It is normal to them but you should not let them chew on you. When they start trying to chew on you, give them toys like big bones to chew. Besides, it could help develop their gums and teeth but it is important not to use physical discipline and harsh words to stop puppies from biting. Just keep a bone or a toy ready to put into its mouth. The puppy will eventually learn not to bite anyone if you keep up with your puppy obedience training.
Your puppy will allow you to do things to him because he knows that you are stronger and you are in charge of him. As a puppy, start doing the essential activities that may become difficult when he grows older especially if you fail to train him while he is young; like bathing your dog, brushing his hair, trimming his toenails, controlling him down with a leash, and brushing his teeth. You should also train his behavior by leaving him alone for short periods, and controlling him while he is eating. Do this when feeding him; take back his plate while there is still food in it then tell him he is a good dog, then give it back to him. He will learn to feel comfortable with people even when he is feeding as the puppy obedience training sets in.
You can start puppy obedience training him to look at you, sit, and stand or lie down. Give treats for every command he learns.
